Emotional moments in the finals of the Strandja Memorial Tournament

The 76th Strandja Memorial Tournament delivered emotional finals in the Sofia, Bulgaria where Sevda Asenova, Li Qian, Torekhan Sabyrkhan and Jakhongir Zokirov were among the winners.

Bulgaria’s Sevda Asenova is a veteran boxer who involved to the national team nearly 20 years ago but she was hungry for the success against Kazakhstan’s Aigerim Sattibayeva in the first female final of the Strandja.

Bulgaria’s next ace, Zlatislava Chukanova progressed significantly in the recent one year and she delighted the home crowd in Sofia where she defeated France’s Romane Moulai at the light flyweight (50kg) final.

France’s Rim Bennama proved also her development and she claimed the title of the women’s flyweight (52kg) against Bulgaria’s Venelina Poptoleva. Turkey’s Yaren Cam Nilay won the next final in the Strandja Memorial, she reached her career highlight with a Strandja Memorial title.

Chinese Taipei’s Wu Shih Yi enjoyed her final against Kazakhstan’s Aidana Zabynbekova and she made a fantastic debut in her new category, at the featherweight (57kg). Her teammate, another Olympic bronze medallist, Chen Nien Chin had a successful mission against Turkey’s Berfin Kabak.

Kosovo’s historic female medallist Donjeta Sadiku bagged the title of the women’s lightweight (60kg) while three Chinese stars as Yang Liu (66kg), Li Qian (75kg) and Bu Ridu (81kg) all defeated their final rivals in Sofia.

Bulgaria’s male duo, the European medallists Ergyunal Sabri (48kg) and Radoslav Rosenov (60kg) delighted the home crowd but the Asians dominated the men’s finals in Sofia.

One of the most promising male boxers in the world, Torekhan Sabyrkhan of Kazakhstan made an impressive debut in the elite competitions with a dominant success at the welterweight (67kg) over his Azeri opponent.

Uzbekistan’s next wave such as Shakhzod Muzaffarov (54kg), Fazliddin Erkinboyev (80kg), Turabek Khabibullayev (92kg) and Jakhongir Zokirov (+92kg) all won their weight classes in the strong Strandja Memorial Tournament.
