Hamori and Veocic won the battle of then Olympians in Debrecen today

Hungary’s Luca Hamori and Croatia’s Gabrijel Veocic won the final battles of the Paris Olympians at the the 69th edition of the Bocskai Memorial Tournament in Debrecen, Hungary today.

The Bocskai Memorial Tournament is one of the oldest competitions in the whole world and it has a strong brand name since the 1950s.

Hungary’s Lilla Szeleczki defeated her Polish final opponent in Debrecen, she claimed the first title of the day against Marta Prill. The next Polish girl, Wiktoria Rogalinska succeeded against Hungary’s Hanna Lakotar at the women’s bantamweight (54kg) which was a tactical battle today.

Hungary’s ex-Kazakh boxer, Vladislava Kukhta lost her coach this January and she boxed also to his memory in the final of the Bocskai Memorial. The 25-year-old local girl looked fresh and energetic against Netherlands’ Youth World Champion Maud Van der Toorn today.

Two Olympians as Chelsey Heijnen and Luca Hamori met in the next Netherlands vs. Hungary final contest at the 65kg. Both boxers received warning from the referee and the Hungarian kept the gold medal on home soil after a real battle.

Hungary’s 26-year-old Gabor Virban, the European bronze medallist, enjoyed his 55kg final battle against his main national rival, Istvan Szaka and he claimed his next title at the Bocskai Memorial Tournament.

Croatia’s European Games silver medallist Gabrijel Veocic met Hungary’s Pylyp Akilov in the battle of the Olympians at the 80kg weight class. The Croatian felt the tempo better than his Hungarian opponent and he won this important final by unanimous decision.

Wales’ Connor Williams is a native talent in our sport and despite his low number of bouts, he impressed at the Boxam in Spain and also at the Bocskai in Hungary where he defeated Slovakia’s Peter Gavenciak at the 90kg final.
