Kambosos Jr open to a “fair” rematch with Teofimo Lopez

George Kambosos Jr (22-3, 10 KOs) said he is open to a rematch with WBO World super-lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez (21-1, 13 KOs).

Kambosos defeated on Saturday in New South Wales, Australia the late replacement Jake Wyllie (16-2, 15 KOs) via unanimous decision (117:111, 115:113 and 117:111).

Kambosos defeated Teofimo Lopez in first encounter between them in November 2021. He won via split decision. For Lopez is the only defeated in his career.

Lopez will defend his WBO title on May 2 against Arnold Barboza Jr. (32-0, 11 KOs).

Kambosos will face next IBF World champion Richardson Hitchins. The date mentioned is June 21.

“That rematch can always happen. That rematch can always be there. There’s never been a hold up on my side – as long as it’s fair. As long as he gets his passport ready, and makes his way to Australia, because I beat him in his home town – I think that’s fair”, Kambosos told “BoxingScene”.

“Or we can do it on neutral ground – somewhere that’s neutral. Saudi Arabia, or wherever. He’s got a job to do; there’s a lot of obstacles before we even get to that equation. My goal is to become champion again. If it’s [IBF champion Richardson] Hitchins, I’m more than happy to take out another New Yorker. Then we’ll have to wait and see.”
