France’s El Achi brothers were confident at the Danas Pozniakas Youth Tournament

The Lithuanian Boxing Federation’s first event in 2025, the 20^th edition of the Danas Pozniakas Youth Tournament started with great contests in Vilnius. France’s El Achi brothers impressed in the first sessions with their excellent fighting skills in Lithuania’s capital city.

The competition was named after Lithuania’s national boxing hero Mr. Danas Pozniakas who claimed gold medal at the Mexico 1968 Olympic Games and also crowned three-times in the history of the European Boxing Championships.

Lithuania’s European Junior bronze medallist Jelizaveta Jakimova won her important selection bout against her compatriot, Austeja Stulginskaite at the women’s 54kg weight class.

France introduced a new youth team in Vilnius and among them Moussa El Achi had a massive performance against Netherlands’ Bjarne Machielse at the men’s 60kg. His brother, Aissa El Achi smashed Lithuania’s Nojus Smatauskas and the referee confirmed his RSC triumph in the second round.

Croatia’s Matej Marton was the next strong debutant in Vilnius, he stopped Armenia’s Karen Avetisyan in the third round of their 65kg weight class battle. A local boxer, Rapolas Koncius had a tough but successful mission against France’s Ismael Tami in this weight.

Lithuania’s Kajus Bogusis spent short time in the ring against Armenia’s Hovhannes Vardanyan when the referee stopped their contest. Norway’s Stefan Ogorelica also won his opener by RSC in the first round, eliminating Zygmantas Grusas of Lithuania.

Latvia’s European medallists and U19 World competitors as Nikita Prohovskis eliminated his Norwegian opponent at the 75kg weight class, while his teammate, Nikolajs Zamjatins walked over to the next stage.
