The World Boxing Cup Brazil starts today
After the official draw, the first competition day of the World Boxing Cup Brazil will be coming soon in Foz do Iguacu this night.
The picturesque Foz da Iguacu is the city in the Brazilian state in Parana and it is one of the largest waterfalls in the whole world.
Chinese Taipei’s Olympics bronze medallist Chen Nien Chin moved down to the 65kg weight class and she will be boxing in the first contest of the World Boxing Cup later today. Her opponent will be a strong one, Brazil’s Beatriz Soares who claimed also several international medals during her career.
United States’ new national team member, Orlando Zamora will be involved to the first male bout, he can expect a strong challenge against Australia’s Paris Olympian Yusuf Chothia at the men’s 55kg weight class.
Germany’s tall Omar Salah Ibrahim had excellent results in 2023 but he failed to qualify for the Paris Olympics. He has decided to move up to the 55kg category and he will make his debut against a promising and strong Guatemalan, Jose Daniel Felipe Mijangos.
Uzbekistan’s Tokyo Olympian Mirazizbek Mirzakhalilov won the World Championships, the Asian Games and the Asian Championships as well during his career but he is still hungry for a new success. The 30-year-old Uzbek will be boxing in the first competition day against Sweden’s Paris Olympian Nebil Ibrahim who also moved down to the 55kg.
Uzbekistan’s next sensation on the first day could be a boxer from the 2005 age group, the Asian Elite Champion Javokhir Ummataliyev who will meet Italy’s European U22 Champion Alfred Commey at the 80kg weight class.
Brazil’s World silver medallist Wanderley Pereira, their Paris Olympian Michael Trindade and the returning Isaias Ribeiro Filho also can delight the crowd on Day1.
