The Uzbeks made a perfect first day at the Brazilian World Boxing Cup
Uzbeks made a perfect first competition day of the World Boxing Cup Brazil in Foz do Iguacu where Gabriele Guidi Rontani and Jose Daniel Felipe Mijangos both had quick RSCs.
Chinese Taipei’s former World Champion and Olympics bronze medallist Chen Nien Chin controlled most of the exchanges in three rounds against Brazil’s Beatriz Soares and she won the first bout of the entire competition.
Australia’s Yusuf Chothia and his US opponent, Orlando Zamora had similar technical skills and among them the first won this bout at the men’s 55kg weight class. Kazakhstan’s Nursultan Altynbek, the Asian U22 Champion, was slightly better than Brazil’s Michael Trindade and he joined also the next stage.
Guatemala’s Central American Champion Jose Daniel Felipe Mijangos is a strong puncher but none of his coaches expected that he will do a quick decision against Germany’s Omar Salah Ibrahim, winning the bout by RSC in the first round.
Uzbekistan’s Mirazizbek Mirzakhalilov won all of the major championships excluding the Olympic Games and he started well against Sweden’s Paris Olympian Nebil Ibrahim at the 55kg weight category.
Italy’s young Gabriele Guidi Rontani stopped Guatemala’s Walter Ariel Duarte at the 70kg weight class while France’s Makan Traore had a crucial triumph over a local boy, Cristiano Pereira in the same weight class.
Uzbekistan’s Asian Games winner Ikboljon Kholdarov regained his place in the top team and he started well against a two-time Olympian Polish boxer, Damian Durkacz before the new US national team member, Carlos Flowers eliminated Australia’s Shannan Davey.
Uzbekistan’s Asian Champion Javokhir Ummataliyev bowed out a strong opponent, Italy’s Alfred Commey but Brazil’s Wanderley Pereira and England’s Dimeji Shittu also won their 80kg contests on Day1.
