Close contests in Foz da Iguacu on Day2
The second competition day delivered close battles at the World Boxing Cup Brazil in Foz do Iguacu and several of the stars had to give in everything to win their contests.
Poland’s European U22 medallist Wiktoria Rogalinska has just won the Bocskai Memorial Tournament in Hungary and she continued her winning path in Brazil where she had an emerging success over Kazakhstan’s young Anita Adisheva.
Rogalinska’s teammate, the experienced Olympian Aneta Rygielska moved down to the 60kg weight category but she had the strength and speed to beat Brazil’s former Youth World bronze medallist Rebeca Santos.
United States’ Yoseline Perez regained her place in the women’s national team after 2023 and she had an outstanding performance against Australia’s Paris Olympian Monique Suraci at the 54kg weight class.
Italy’s European U22 Champion Sirine Charaabi is another strong boxer at the women’s 54kg weight class who used her brilliant technical skills to beat Brazil’s Olympian veteran, Tatiana Chagas on Day2.
Norway’s Paris Olympian Sunniva Hofstad is one of the strongest punchers at the women’s 75kg weight class but she had to do her very best to join the next stage against a World medallist opponent from Australia, Emma-Sue Greentree.
Four tough contests were held at the men’s 50kg weight category and Poland’s Jakub Slominski, France’s Nikee Cummings, India’s Jadumani Singh Mandengbam and Uzbekistan’s Asilbek Jalilov won their challenges.
Brazil’s Luiz Gabriel Oliveira is one of the best local boxers and the American Champion controlled his first contest at the men’s 60kg against Kazakhstan’s Talgat Syrymbetov while his Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist teammate, Abner Junior Teixeira lost to United States’ Kelvin Watts.
