The Uzbeks dominated the male finals at the Brazilian World Boxing Cup
The Uzbeks dominated the male finals at the World Boxing Cup Brazil in Foz do Iguacu where the competition have been concluded in six days of actions.
Poland’s Wiktoria Rogalinska won her last competition, the Bocskai Memorial and she continued her career another gold medal in Foz da Iguacu where she defeated a US girl, Yoseline Perez unanimously.
Brazil’s Jucielen Romeu had the toughest final in the women’s part of the competition, she could keep the focus until the last seconds to beat Poland’s Julia Szeremeta, the silver medallist from the Paris Olympics.
Norway’s Sunniva Hofstad will turn 21 this year but she is a so amazing and experienced boxer at the women’s 75kg weight class therefore her strength decided the final against Italy’s Melissa Gemini who progressed a lot this year.
Uzbekistan’s Asilbek Jalilov won the first male final over France’s Nikee Cummings at the 50kg but his teammate, the World Champion Mirazizbek Mirzakhalilov lost to Kazakhstan’s Nursultan Altynbek in the next title contest.
Brazil’s Luiz Oliveira controlled most of the exchanges against Poland’s Pawel Brach and he knocked out his rival in the third round. His compatriot, Yuri Falcao Reis kept the next title on home soil when he outpointed India’s Abhinash Jamwal at the 65kg.
Uzbekistan’s youngsters such as Fazliddin Erkinboyev, Javokhir Ummataliyev and the Paris Olympian Turabek Khabibullayev controlled their finals over Brazil’s Kaue Belini, Wanderley Pereira and England’s Isaac Okoh to take the titles in Foz da Iguacu.
One of the most anticipated final was the +90kg bout between Uzbekistan’s multiple Asian Champion Lazizbek Zokirov and England’s athletic Damar Thomas. The first landed the stronger punches in all of the three rounds and he won their tight battle by 3:2 split decision.
