The Peacock Theatre and the famous Arena in Downtown will be the boxing venues at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics

Los Angeles will host the Olympic Games third-time in the city’s history and the venues of several sports have been decided already with the approval of the International Olympic Committee’s Board.

Boxing returned to the official Olympic program last month and the exact agenda has been approved by the International Olympic Committee.

The preliminary bouts of the boxing event of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics will feature at the Peacock Theatre in Downtown. The weightlifting events will also held in the Peacock Theatre next to boxing in that world-class venue.

The final stages of the boxing event will take place in another venue, at the Arena in Downtown Los Angeles where the gymnastics and the trampoline also added to the Olympic program as the official venue.

The Arena in Downtown Los Angeles is a multi-purpose indoor arena and it is the home of the famous Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Sparks and the Los Angeles Kings as well.

“As the Host City for the 2028 Games, Los Angeles will become only the third city in the history of the world to host the Summer Olympics three times and these venues will showcase the best of our city to a global audience. The plan brings the Games to all corners of our city like never before,” said City of Los Angeles Mayor, Karen Bass.

The total number of quotas will not change in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games which means boxing granted the same 248 spots.

The number of the weight categories has been increased up to 14 with one additional female category in terms of the full gender equality.

The seven women weight categories in the 2028 Olympics will be as follows: 51kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 65kg, 70kg and +80kg.

The men’s boxers can compete in these seven weight classes in Los Angeles: 55kg, 60kg, 65kg, 70kg, 80kg, 90kg and +90kg.
