Jennifer Fernandez, Laura Fuertes. Marta Lopez and Rafael Lozano secured Spain’s dominance at the Porto Box Cup

Spain dominated the next busy international event, the Porto Box Cup which was held in Portugal’s second biggest city with the participation of hundreds of boxers.

Spain’s Marta Lopez moved down to the women’s minimumweight (48kg) and she had a successful mission against her teammate, Carmen Gonzalez in the first elite final of the Porto Box Cup.

The next Spanish ace, the World Championships bronze medallist and the Paris Olympian Laura Fuertes also defeated her teammate, Rocio Sanchez at the women’s flyweight (52kg) in Porto.

Spain’s Jennifer Fernandez became the Best Female Boxer of the event following her success over Federica Elli at the featherweight (57kg). Portugal’s Cintia Dias claimed the gold medal at the women’s lightweight (60kg) against Ireland’s more experienced Zara Breslin.

Spain’s Boxam winner Mariana Soto had several difficulties against Hungary’s Diana Cifra in the final of the light welterweight (63kg) but finally her hand was raised.

Ireland’s Ryan Jenkins became the Best Male Boxer of the Porto Box Cup, he defeated Mathis Verret at the welterweight (67kg) C-final.

Spain’s Paris Olympics quarter-finalist Rafael Lozano was one of the top names of the entire Porto Box Cup and he had the dominance in all of his bantamweight (54kg) contests, including his final over Serrano Lenick Fernandes.

Among the Spanish U22 boxers, the experienced Enrique Kakulov defeated Guillaume Eloto at the lightweight (60kg) final. Salvador Flores moved up to the welterweight (67kg) and he was unstoppable for José Bolela in the final.

The European bronze medallist Adrian Thiam made a successful debut at the light middleweight (71kg) against Evin Baladier. Another technician Spaniard, Frank Martinez outpointed Ireland’s Joshua Olaniyan at the middleweight (75kg) final bout.
