Per-Ake Persson Lithuanian welterweight Egidijus Kavaliauskas (25-3-1) won the EBU title with a split and according to Spanish sources a controversial decision over defending champion Samuel Molina (32-4-1). After twelve rounds of boxing the judges had it 115-113 twice for Kavaliuskas and 115-114 for Molina.
