Tammara Thibeault returned at the Canadian National Championships with a gold medal

Boxing Canada hosted its main competition, the National Championships in Winnipeg where their No.1, Tammara Thibeault returned with a gold medal.

British Columbia’s Nyousha Nakhjiri defeated her two main rivals such as the international boxer Priyanka Dhillon and Maxim Lessard to take the first female title in Winnipeg.

McKenzie Wright represented Canada in all of the qualification events and she remained on the top of the national throne at the 51kg after beating Jade Delgado and Amber-Jane Wall in the final two contests.

The two-time American Continental Champion Scarlett Delgado represented Canada in all of the big events in the recent years and she had the routine to beat Quebec’s Lishana Sellan at the 54kg final.

Quebec’s World Championships competitor Marie Al-Ahmadieh is Canada’s top female talent in the U22 age group and she accomplished her goal in Winnipeg where she was too smart for Victoria Vergos at the 57kg final.

British Columbia’s Shauna O’Callaghan (60kg), Quebec’s duo, Rachel Bourdon (65kg) and Maeva Montemiglio (70kg) won the next three finals.

Tammara Thibeault is Canada’s highest-ranked boxer, the World Champion, Commonwealth Games and Panamerican Games winner returned to the national events and she defeated the World bronze medallist Viktoria Penney in the women’s 75kg final.

Manitoba’s Isaiah Rock (50kg), Ontario’s Max Tomines (55kg) and Fuzayl Rakhimov (60kg) won the lighter weight categories in the men’s part of the Nationals.

Joshua Ofori claimed a gold at the Grand Prix Usti and he robbed into the world of boxing this year therefore his success over Eric Marshall was highly expected at the 80kg.

The veteran Bryan Colwell earned the 90kg title while a local boxer, Braydon Horcoff made a surprise at the +90kg to beat the favourite, Jerome Feujio.
