Former EBU champion Velensek passed away

German former EBU light-heavy champ Conny Velensek has passed away at the age of 82.

Velensek won the EBU title in 1971 with a split decision over Piero Del Papa and retained it later the same year with a draw against Chris Finnegan in Berlin but lost the rematch in Nottingham in 1972.

Velensek won the West German heavyweight title in 1974 but the lost the title the year after retired with a 26-20-4 record compiled against tough company with fights all over Europe and South Africa.

In retirement he owned a pub and worked in the vending machine business.
