Emotional semi-final day for England, Ukraine, Italy, Germany, Hungary and Montenegro in Kienbaum

The semi-finals delivered an emotional day for England, Ukraine, Italy, Germany, Hungary and Montenegro European U17 Boxing Championships in Kienbaum, Germany today.

England’s Lily Bassett can prepare to her next European final following her technician performance against Croatia’s Ema Andela Zaja.

England’s Anya New impressed in the entire competition and she is now a finalist following her clear success over Ireland’s Lucie Prentice at the women’s 50kg. The English girl will be boxing for the title of the category with Germany’s first finalist Amalia Mueller.

Italy’s Rachele Perna was named as a favourite at the women’s 60kg and she accomplished her minimum target as she joined to the finals beating Greece’s Lydia Tarnanidou.

Hungary’s Krisztina Bodnar used her speed to beat Lithuania’s Evelina Lescik at the women’s +80kg and she can prepare to her first final against Ukraine’s Sofia Opaliukh who had a tight success over Turkey’s Miray Dogru.

Ukraine’s Mykhailo Sydorenko had a very hard tactical job against Georgia’s experienced Shalva Beridze but he reduced the fighting distance successfully to win this semi-final at the 48kg and he will now meet England’s William Saunders for the gold.

Hungary’s next ace, Istvan Czifra won already three contests in Kienbaum and the 16-year-old talent used his magical footwork to beat Ukraine’s Rostyslav Horodynskyi therefore he can prepare a unique final against Romania’s Florin Ulmeanu at the 63kg.

Montenegro’s Matija Roganovic had the stamina and the great footwork to beat Ukraine’s favourite Dmytro Kasianenko in a hectic semi-final and he will now face with Georgia’s Aleksandr Baladze for the title of the 80kg.

England’s Jaya Kalsi proved her talent once again in Kienbaum and she stopped Poland’s Natasza Kosiec in the semi-finals of the 52kg.

Hungary’s next finalist will be Zsofia Kiss who used her speed to catch Germany’s Lorin Sayim with jabs and she advanced to the final of the 57kg where England’s Siobhan Haley is waiting for her.
