Colombian great Bonifacio Avila passed away at age of 75

Colombian great Bonifacio Avila has passed away at the age of 75, reports the Spanish edition of ESPN. Avilia fought in the 1972 Olympics in Munich and then turned pro fighting all over the world until 1979 when he retired with a record of 17-9-3. Avila fought Ayub Kalule in Denmark, “Tap Tap” Makathini in South Africa, Carlos De Leon in Puerto Rico and stopped Nelsson La Salle at home in Cartagena. Avila was also sparring partner for Rodrigo Valdez. In retirement Bonifacio, known as “Bony”, ran a big café in Cartagena and did well. He is survived by his wife and four children.
