Croatia’s duo, Agata Stajcer and Lorena Horvat won the titles at the Nations Women’s Cup
The 15th edition of the Nations Women’s Cup had nine final contests in Sombor, Serbia over the weekend and Croatia’s duo, Agata Stajcer and Lorena Horvat impressed in the youth part of the international event.
The Nations Women’s Cup was launched in 2012 and since then several of the top female stars competed in this Serbian event during these years.
Lea Kirti is one of the experienced Serbian U17 boxers who opened her campaign against Nina Nikolic successfully on Day1 and she continued the winning path over Lenka Novkov in the final of the 57kg.
Another Serbian junior boxer from the national team, Mia Topic also managed to beat her final opponent, Mirjana Mastilovic at the 63kg.
Natasa Lukic became a gold medallist at the youth 51kg, she defeated Melinda Utasi winning all of the three rounds on the judges’ scorecards.
Anja Salata amazed in the opening day when she eliminated Lejla Sejdi but she was not able to repeat that performance against Jovana Devetakovic in the youth 60kg final bout.
Croatia’s strong youth talent, Agata Stajcer had all of the international experience to beat Serbia’s Andriana Badovinac at the 65kg.
Croatia’s next sensation, the European medallist Lorena Horvat proved her strength against Serbia’s Sonja Vuksic which was the tightest contest of the final day. The 16-year-old Croatian won their 70kg title contest by 2:1 split decision and the event was a perfect preparation option for her before the World Boxing U19 Future Cup.
Slovakia’s experienced Nicole Durikova became only a silver medallist in Sombor after her tight loss to Serbia’s Sanja Mitic at the elite 48kg.
Slovenia’s teenager, Naca Nikolov Veber eliminated Serbia’s Nedeljka Petrovic in the semi-finals of the elite 65kg but she was defeated by her teammate, Ajda Usen in the final.
