Ruby White and Katie O’Keefe had a brilliant semi-final at the Golden Girl on Day2

England’s teenage star Ruby White and Katie O’Keefe had the best fight at the 16th Golden Girl Box Cup in Boras, Sweden on Day2.

Germany’s next young elite boxer, Albina Kasumi worked hard in her semi-final and she tried to keep her Irish opponent, Esther Lambe on pressure in the entire contest. The 22-year-old German had only 25 contests in the past but she won their meeting by 3:2 split decision.

Italy’s Simona Monteverdi continued the winning path in the busy elite 65kg after beating England’s young Amy Nolan in the semi-finals

Sweden’s Mona Husac used her footwork and speed well against Denmark’s Chili Mollerup-Madsen in the first and second rounds to win their 70kg semi-final bout. Husac’s smart tactic paid off in their semi-final and she will be boxing for the title of the category with Alexandra Zhurzhenko, another Swedish boxer.

Netherlands’ Kris Mulder showed her strong progress against Sweden’ Emelie Svensson in the semi-finals of the 75kg and she can fight for the title with her teammate, Nouhayla Lagarte tomorrow.

Finland’s Laura Myllymaeki delivered an even better performance against Ireland’s Carol Coughlan in the semi-finals of the 48kg. Her teammate, Teresa Maekinen also joined the finals after beating Sweden’s Jenny Lundberg in a great contest.

England’s Ruby White and Ireland’s Katie O’Keefe had a smart chess game in the first round, both have brilliant technical skills. The 18-year-old English is one of the rising stars of the whole boxing world and she demonstrated her punching power as well.

Denmark’s Alice Bennedbaek proved her strong development one year ago and she also progressed in this Golden Girl. She landed several left-handed jabs to stop England’s Tiffany Macquet and destroyed her opponent’s defence in the second and third rounds.

France’s European Games winner Amina Zidani made a successful debut at the 65kg weight class in Boras where she eliminated Netherlands’ Keona Samsin before Nigeria’s Patricia Mbata defeated Finland’s Mari Sillansuo.
