Chisora – Wilder winner could fight Usyk
Derek Chisora (36-13, 23 KO) will face Deontay Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KOs) on April 4 in O2 Arena, London.
Winner of the fight could get mandatory shot at IBF World heavyweight title which is held by Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs), promoter Frank Warren told Sky Sports.
“It’s the last chance saloon for one of them that’s for sure. Well, for both of them. One of them’s going to get thrown out of the saloon,” Warren told Sky Sports. “They’re not youngsters who are going to come back again.
“It’s definitely one of those fights. For somebody it’s going to be all over for them. At their age, they’re not going to recover from that.”
Chisora currently the highest ranked contender in the IBF’s heavyweight ratings.
“The IBF, they’ll be calling for Usyk to defend. Usyk’s been given consent by the WBC, who’s the next one in, to have a voluntary defence,” Warren explained.
Wilder said in press conference on Wednesday that he needs Chisora more then Chisora needs him.
“I need this fight. I need Derek more than he needs me,” Wilder told a news conference. “I need to see where I am. I been broken down and rebuilt again. I can’t wait.
“This is definitely a must-win for me. Not only a win, I need a devastating win, a knockout. That’s what we come to see. We got two beautiful heavyweights up there. You don’t know what to expect.
“He throws everything in the kitchen sink. You can have the toaster, the blender, everything else. He hits you in places you don’t want to be hit and he don’t care.
“I told Derek I want you to try and kill me. Because I need that and that’s what he’s going to do. It’s a special moment.”
