Kazakhstan, India, Ukraine, Thailand, England and Spain shared the titles at the Boxam Tournament
Twenty boxers from India, Kazakhstan, Thailand, England, Ukraine and Spain celebrated their titles at the Boxam Elite Tournament in La Nucia, Alicante region, Spain.
India’s Manju Rani and Spain’s Marta Lopez met in the first final of the Boxam Elite Tournament in the fifth and last competition day. The Indian moved more on feet and she found the best counter-attacking angles to win the title of the women’s 48kg.
India’s former Youth World Champion Nitu Ghanghas continued the winning path for her nation after beating Spain’s 19-year-old Noelia Gutierrez at the 51kg. Poonam and Preeti Pawar met in the Indian final at the women’s 54kg and the first won their contest by split decision.
Thailand’s ace, the Asian Champion Punrawee Ruenros delivered one of the best performances in the entire competition, she was brilliant in the final against Netherlands’ promising young talent, Gabriella Weerheim.
India’s Priya and her teammate, Arundhati Choudhary both defeated Ukrainian opponents in their finals, they were smarter in the exchanges than Tetiana Dovhal and Anastasia Taran at the 60kg and 70kg weight categories.
India’s Lovlina Borgohain also had a difficult tactical job but she managed to beat England’s Mary-Kate Smith at the 75kg. Her compatriot, Naina defeated Ukraine’s Raisa Piskun in a hectic bout while the last female final was won by Kazakhstan’s Umida Sadykova at the +80kg.
Kazakhstan’s 22-year-old Sanzhar Tashkenbay was highly confident against Spain’s teenage talent Ismael Maghraoui and he won a fantastic battle at the men’s 50kg weight class.
Kazakhstan’s next flag bearer, another two-time World Champion, Makhmud Sabyrkhan had a difficult tactical job against England’s Ellis Trowbridge and the first round was one of the best ones in the entire tournament.
Kazakhstan’s 19-year-old World Champion Torekhan Sabyrkhan delivered the next sensational performance in the Boxam Tournament, he made a big U-turn from the second round and he defeated India’s Deepak at the 70kg.
