Australia’s duo as Pergoliti and Greentree fly high at the Strandja Trophy Tournament

Australia’s duo as Lekeisha Pergoliti and Emma-Sue Greentree won their anticipated quarter-finals at the 77th Strandja Trophy Tournament in Sofia today.

Ukraine’s former World Championships silver medallist Hanna Okhota returned to the national team and the sport after a short break and she secured a place in the semi-finals after beating Kazakhstan’s Aigerim Sattibayeva.

The next Kazakh quarter-finalist at the 48kg, Anel Kudaybergen also lost her bout today, Uzbekistan’s Sabina Bobokulova was stronger in all of the three rounds.  

Kazakhstan’s Anel Sakysh put herself into the spotlight in the 2019 Asian Youth Boxing Championships where she earned a medal. The Kazakh girl spent the recent years to improve all of her skills and she had three strong rounds against Brazil’s Ana Livia Linhares therefore she is a medallist in Sofia.

Ireland’s Paris Olympian Grainne Walsh, Kazakhstan’s Laura Yessenkeldi, England’s European U23 Champion Sacha Hickey and Uzbekistan’s two-time Asian Champion Navbakhor Khamidova are the semi-finalists at the women’s 65kg.

Australia’s World silver medallist Lekeisha Pergoliti defeated Germany’s Leonie Mueller in a close bout once in 2025 and she repeated that in the Strandja Tournament. Her teammate, another World medallist, Emma-Sue Greentree stopped her Turkish opponent, Sudenur Aslan at the 75kg.

Germany’s Ousainou Hansen was patient and he landed his jabs with perfect timing in the first round against Romania’s Arun Nicu Tudoroiu. The Romanian found his rhythm in the beginning of the second round and one of his lethal punches finished the bout and the referee confirmed Tudoroiu’s RSC victory.

Kazakhstan’s Yertugan Zeinullinov began his international career in 2013 but his technical and tactical skills reached the top level only in the previous three years. Zeinullinov eliminated the US teenager, Marcus Luther at the 65kg while his Paris Olympian teammate, Mukhammedsabyr Bazarbay Uulu defeated Ireland’s Jon McConnell at the 70kg.
