The Asian Games will start on September 23
One month left until the start of the Asian Games which will be held in Hangzhou, China from September 23 until October 8. The Asian Games will be the first Olympic Qualifier for the Asian boxers and the second quota event after the European Games.
The Summer Asian Games is the largest multisport event not only in the continent, but in the world as well with the participation of more than 12,000 athletes. Hangzhou is the third Chinese city to host an Asian Games after the Beijing 1990 and the Guangzhou 2010 editions.
The Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games have officially postponed following the decision of the Olympic Council of Asia on May 2022. The Olympic Council of Asia confirmed the new date of the 2023 Asian Games in a press conference on July 2022.
The main venue of the 2022 Asian Games is the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Stadium which was completed in 2018 with the capacity of 80,000 spectators. Following the official announcement of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), 40 sports and 483 events have been involved to the 2022 Asian Games including boxing.
Boxing is in the official program of the Asian Games since the Manila 1954 edition. All of the Asian top countries including Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, China, India, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Mongolia, Tajikistan and the Philippines will be there to fight for the 34 available quotas for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
