The 1st Enrique Rodriguez Cal U22 Memorial Tournament starts with the first bouts tomorrow

Following the African Olympic Qualifier, and further international tournaments in various countries in Europe, the next competition will be the Rodriguez Cal Memorial in Spain.

Spain’s next international competition is absolutely new on the boxing map, the Enrique Rodriguez Cal Memorial Tournament for the U22 female and male boxers will be held in Palencia on September 18-24.

The first competition day is September 19 in Palencia and all of the boxers who were born in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 are eligible to participate in the new international event.

England, Wales, France, Spain, Hungary, Romania, Ukraine, Lithuania, Belgium and others are planning to compete in North Spain on the first historic edition.  

The competition venue of the 1^st Enrique Rodriguez Cal U22 Memorial Tournament or shortly known as Dacal Tournament will be the Pabellon Municipal de Palencia.

Palencia is located in the Castilla y Leon region, north from Madrid and the distance is only 40km from the capital of the region, Valladolid. All of the teams will be welcomed in the Valladolid Airport and transportations from the Madrid Adolfo Suarez Barajas Airport are possible for some extra costs.

Enrique Rodriguez Cal was a famous Spanish boxer who earned historic results for the country during the 1970s and died in 2022. He earned bronze medals, the first top boxing results for Spain at the Munich 1972 Olympic Games and at the Havana 1974 World Boxing Championships.
