Victor Catalino had a brilliant bout against a promising Scotsman
The Enrique Rodriguez Cal U22 Memorial Tournament is the highlight of the week in the boxing map and the second day delivered impressive contests in Palencia, North Spain.
Scotland’s Isa Akram is a very tall 19-year-old talent at the lightweight (60kg) with impressive junior and youth performances. The Scotsman tried to keep his Spanish opponent, Victor Catalino on long in the first round but he was also strong enough in the busy final seconds in their opener.
Catalino, who has roots from the Dominican Republic, opened the second round better and the referee counted Akram once. The Scottish was smarter in the third round and he looked more careful but Catalino’s strength decided their contest.
Altogether 73 young boxers including ten girls will compete for the gold medals in the historic first edition Enrique Rodriguez Cal U22 Memorial Tournament.
Belgium, England, France, Hungary, Lithuania, Romania, Scotland, Spain, Ukraine and Wales are the participating nations in this U22 international tournament.
