Kazakhstan and India are the most successful nations in the junior age group in Astana

The third part of the semi-finals also finished at the Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships in Astana where Kazakhstan and India were the most successful countries during the ninth competition day.

Nine countries secured at least one spot in the junior male finals including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Japan, India, Iran and Thailand.

The venue of the championship is the Beeline Arena in Kazakhstan’s capital where the number of the boxers is 435. The competition returned to Kazakhstan after seven years of break but the country is ready to host further championships in 2024.

Hong Kong, India, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Palestine, Philippines, Tajikistan, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, and Yemen are the 22 participating nations in the event.

Tajikistan’s Jakhongir Kamolov had a fantastic tempo against Uzbekistan’s Bekhruz Kurbonov and he secured his place in the final of the pinweight (46kg) where he will now meet India’s Brijesh Tamta.

Turkmenistan’s Sanjar Hamrayev and Abdalla Hojayev both eliminated Tajik rivals, Mansurkhuja Muminov and Biloldzhon Iksanov in their semi-finals winning these tough contests by split decisions.

Uzbekistan’s Shakhbozbek Ergashev delivered one of the best junior performances in the day of the semi-finals, the 16-year-old boxer was too smart for Kazakhstan’s Bauyrzhan Muratov and he landed at least 30 clear shots.

Japan’s Yuga Fujiki is a fantastic talent in the junior age group, the 16-year-old boxer had unpredictable movements in his lightweight (60kg) semi-final against Kazakhstan’s Asker Kuanysh.

Kazakhstan’s Nurmukhan Bekarys impressed in the preparation events this year and he stopped Kyrgyzstan’s Ramazan Isayev in the first round at the welterweight (66kg) but Zhassulan Berdaly, Zhandos Alpysbayev and Bakytzhan Aitmukhanov also dominated their contests from the host country’s team.
