Azim stops Petitjean, wins EBU title
Adam Azim (10-0) is the new EBU European champion in super-lightweight division. Azim on Saturday night stopped the reigning champion Franck Petitjean (24-7-3) of France in 10th round and won the title.
21-year-old dropped Petitjean twice on the way to convincing victory.
It was one of two EBU title fights that were held on Saturday’s night show in Wolverhampton. Show was promoted by Benjamin Shalom.
In the other fight Tyler Denny (18-2-3) won the EBU title in middleweight, beating the reigning champion Matteo Signani of Italy by stoppage in 8th round. Signani’s corner advised referee to stop the contest, after the Italian fighter got a bad cut in left eye.
