Ryan Garcia stops Duarte in eight
Ryan Garcia, fighting on Saturday for the first time since suffering first loss of career in April from the hands of Gervonta Davis, got an impressive knockout victory over Oscar Duarte.
Garcia (24-1) stopped Duarte (26-2-1) in round eight of the fight held in “Toyota Center”, Houston.
The fight was at catchweight max 65 kg.
Garcia on April lost from Davis by KO in seventh round.
He changed the coach, and was fighting first fight with Derrick James.
“I fought hard to find myself again and I did a lot of soul-searching,” Garcia told DAZN after the fight.
Garcia after the fight called out Rolando “Rolly” Romero (15-1), which hold WBA World super-lightweight title.
“I’m committing to becoming a world champion,” Garcia told DAZN. “If Rollys wants that, bring it on, Rollys.”
