Joshua stops Wallin, Parker stuns Wilder
Anthony Joshua (27-3) made an impressive display on Saturday night in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Joshua dominated the fight against Otto Wallin (26-2). Wallin retired after round fight.
Joshua made three wins in year 2023.
“I can’t rate my performance. Ben Davison, my performance team, I’ll leave it up to them. Just another fight. I respect Otto. Not so much a throwback fight, just another day in the office”, Joshua said.
Joshua was supposed to fight Deontay Wilder (43-3-1) next, but this is unclear now, after Wilder on Saturday night in Riyadh lost sensationally to Joseph Parker (34-3).
Parker was dominant and after 12 round the judges saw him as clear winner. Steve Gray scored the fight 120:108 in favor of Parker, Michael Alexander 118:111 and John Latham 118:110, also in favor of Parker.
“We had great momentum coming into this fight. The strategy was to stay calm, stay relaxed, stay focused … every minute of every round. This is a great finish to the year”, Parker said.
Wilder admitted that his timing was off.
“My timing was off a little bit,” Wilder said. “He did a great job of avoiding a lot of my punches. I did feel like I had the upper hand, but things happen. We move on to the next step.”
