Akui ends Dalakian’s nearly 6-year reign as WBA champion
Seigo Yuri Akui (19-2-1) is the new WBA World champion in flyweight. Akui on January 23 in Osaka, Japan beat Ukrainian Artem Dalakian (22-1) to hand him the first loss in professional boxing career.
He also ended Dalakian’s nearly six year reign as WBA champion.
Akui won by unanimous decision (116:112, 119:109 and 117:111).
Dalakian won the title in February 2018 and defended it six times.
In the main event of the show promoted by promoter Akihiko Honda, the Japanese star Kenshiro Teraji (23-1) defended the WBA Super and WBC World light-flyweight titles, beating by majority decision Venezuelan Carlos Canizares (26-2-1).
