Legendary boxing matches – Legendary boxers: The fastest knockout ever recorded
Author: Zizi
There are matches, which are never to be forgotten, and there are boxing icons, who are going to stay with us for eternity.
People love boxing for different reasons. Some people love the pure battle between the two fighters, others love the tactical elements and the beautiful combinations and of course, most of us love the knockouts (hereinafter KO’s).
There were many professional fighters, who were masters of KO’s and we are not just talking about the heavyweight division in this case, although for obvious reasons, the biggest hitters are related to the king category.
In this particular case, let us look at the fastest KO of all time. The title of fastest knockout ever recorded (in professional boxing) goes to Phil Williams, who finished his opponent, Brandon Burke in ten seconds in 2007 (the fight was in St. Paul, Minnesota).
Fun fact: This match was the fourth professional fights for both athletes. The clash was actually immediately over after its start because Williams hit a powerful right hook down the chin and thanks to this accurate punch, the referee did not have to count to ten because Burke was still visibly dazed. This was almost the end of Burke’s professional career, as he had only two more fights as professional boxer (one win and one loss).
