The quota bouts will be held in Busto Arsizio tomorrow
The last Round 16 bouts were held at the 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event in Busto Arsizio, Italy and all of the winners need only one more further step to qualify for Paris.
Germany’s Maxi Kloetzer has recovered from her injury and she impressed in the afternoon session in Busto Arsizio. She was confident in the first round against Chinese Taipei’s Guo Yi Hsuan and her heavy shots decided the women’s light flyweight (50kg) bout in the second.
Poland’s Natalia Kuczewska had a more difficult contest than she expected against Tajikistan’s Rukhafzo Khaknazarova but she had the perfect final round to eliminate her Asian opponent. One of the most experienced women’s light flyweight (50kg) boxer in this event, a former Olympic medallist, Ingrit Lorena Valencia defeated Ecuador’s Susan Aguas.
Japan’s World Champion Tomoya Tsuboi also moved down one category and his efforts paid off in the first round against Colombia’s Rio silver medallist Yuberjen Martinez. The Colombian was better in the second and with a great finish, he was able to turn back their flyweight (51kg) contest.
United States’ Roscoe Hill was taller than Jordan’s Huthaifa Eshish and he used his longer reach effectively in their flyweight (51kg) contest. Cuba’s Alejandro Claro had a hectic contest against Ecuador’s Luis Fernando Delgado in the same weight class, but finally he managed to win this contest by 4:1 split decision.
Poland’s Julia Szeremeta made an exceptional last round against Uzbekistan’s Sitora Turdibekova and she joined the last four at the women’s featherweight (57kg). Philippines’ Nesthy Petecio had difficulties in the first round against Netherlands’ 18-year-old Maud Van der Toorn but she made a U-turn and eliminated the Youth World Champion.
United States’ 20-year-old Alyssa Mendoza was too strong for South Korea’s Jin Hye Jeong in the next women’s featherweight (57kg) contest and she advanced to the semi-finals.
