The European Youth Boxing Championships started with 21 preliminary contests in Porec

The European Youth Boxing Championships opened with 21 preliminary contests in Porec, Croatia which is the first continental event of the year.

The 2006 and 2007 born boxers are eligible to participate at the EUBC Youth European Boxing Championships in Porec.

Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, England, Estonia, France, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine are compering for the titles in Porec.

Romania’s promising Ramona Mihaela Manea opened the European Youth Boxing Championships with an easy success against Georgia’s Ramilda Tolordava at the women’s minimumweight (48kg).  

The second female contest of the competition delivered a very close battle between Turkey’s Dilara Sak and Poland’s Amelia Kostrzewa at the women’s welterweight (66kg). Both had the international routine but due Sak’s finish, the Turkish boxer won their meeting by bout review.

Georgia’s Levan Demurovi is a multiple European Champion and he was one of the stars of the men’s lightweight (60kg) but he suffered a loss to another gold medal favourite, Azerbaijan’s Mahammadali Gasimzada.

Hungary’s Daniel Frank used his longer reach and height advantage well enough against Poland’s Igor Sulek and he advanced to the Round of 16 where he will now meet Greece’s Nikolaos Kalyvakis at the lightweight (60kg).

Spain’s Eugenio Montoya is his nation’s next top talent who proved his very best in his opener against Croatia’s Nikola Grgic and he joined the next preliminary round of the welterweight (67kg) following his unanimous success.

Ukraine’s Oleh Hichva has strong pedigree from the past and the light middleweight (71kg) boxer finished his debuting contest against Croatia’s Ivo Vito Milakovic while Belgium’s Idriss Khlifi also won his first bout in Porec by RSC.
