Iseni, Cesar, and Beqiri enjoyed their tight successes in Belgrade

Several of the preliminary contests delivered split decisions at the EUBC European Elite Boxing Championships in Belgrade, Serbia on Day3 due to the tiny differences between the well-prepared boxers.

Arjan Iseni was born in the United States and he moved to his grassroots to North Macedonia which became a successful step in the third competition day at the European Boxing Championships. The 21-year-old light heavyweight (80kg) boxer defeated one of the seeded opponents, Armenia’s Rafayel Hovhannisyan on Day3.

France’s European U22 Champion Yojerlin Cesar had a great battle against another promising boxer, Italy’s Alfred Commey in the Round of 16 at the light heavyweight (80kg). Their battle delivered the closest possible result in Belgrade where the judges and the evaluators favoured the French boxer.

Croatia’s European Games silver medallist Gabrijel Veocic dictated the tempo against Spain’s Tokyo Olympian Gazimagomed Jalidov and he won their meeting today. Hungary’s Marko Simon, Montenegro’s Petar Marcic and Moldova’s Dmitri Cosciug all advanced to the quarter-finals in this busy light heavyweight (80kg).

Azerbaijan’s European Games winner and World Champion Loren Berto Alfonso moved up to the heavyweight (92kg) and he is one of the stars in Belgrade but he had to box over his limits to beat Belgium’s World bronze medallist Victor Schelstraete in a hectic bout.

Georgia’s Eskerkhan Madiev, the Tokyo Olympian, stepped into the gas in time to beat Belarus’ Aliaksandr Radzionau at the light middleweight (71kg). Ireland’s Eugene McKeever, Albania’s Alban Beqiri and Turkey’s Tugrulhan Erdemir won the tightest contests in this weight.

Croatia’s Luka Pratljacic collected some big scalps in the previous events but a victory over Azerbaijan’s Paris Olympian Mahammad Abdullayev could be his best ever success. Bulgaria’s ex-Cuban Yordan Hernandez, Russia’s Yaroslav Doronichev and Moldova’s Nicolai Burdiuja were also victorious at the super heavyweight (+92kg).
