Seeded boxers lost their preliminaries in Belgrade today
Some of the seeded boxers were eliminated in the fourth competition day at the EUBC European Elite Boxing Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.
Bulgaria’s Javier Ibanez, the European Games winner ex-Cuban, was dominant in all of the three rounds against Greece’s Alexey Lagkazashvili and he advanced to the next stage of boxing at the featherweight (57kg).
France’s Tokyo Olympian Samuel Kistohurry is a powerful puncher who demonstrated his strength against Belarus’ Maksim Pankou in their featherweight (57kg) meeting. The 29-year-old French controlled all of the three rounds in this contest and he needs one further step to get a medal in Belgrade.
Serbia’s Vakhid Abbasov is one of the defending champions in this event and he proved his very best against Greece’s Anastasios Korovesis at the welterweight (67kg) where Slovenia’s Nejc Petric, Moldova’s Ianus Caravan and Armenia’s Ararat Harutyunyan are all joined the next stage of boxing.
Belarus’ Aliaksei Alfiorau, the 2021 World Championships silver medallist, is strong, quick, he has the perfect technical skills therefore Spain’s Pablo Coy did not have chance to beat the second seed of the cruiserweight (86kg).
Italy’s Vincenzo Lizzi delivered one of the sensations in the session, he eliminated Romania’s European U22 Champion Andrei Aradoaie, a more experienced boxer in their cruiserweight (86kg) meeting.
Georgia’s Tokyo Olympian Eskerkhan Madiev eliminated a seeded boxer at the light middleweight (71kg), Russia’s Igor Sviridchenkov. Another seeded boxer in this weight class, France’s European Games bronze medallist lost to Turkey’s Tugrulhan Erdemir in a hectic preliminary contest.
Croatia’s Luka Pratljacic proved his strength in his next contest, he knocked out Montenegro’s Dilan Prasovic at the super heavyweight (+92kg) today. The local boxer of this weight class, Dusan Veletic of Serbia eliminated a top athlete, Austria’s Ahmed Hagag in an exciting contest.
