Nery: If Mike Tyson Can Lose His Unbeaten Record At Tokyo Dome, So Can Naoya Inoue

Former two-division champ Luis Nery (35-1-10) acknowledges the odds but eyes a Tokyo upset, like Buster Douglas did against Mike Tyson at Tokyo Dome in 1990.

Facing pound-for-pound king Naoya “Monster” Inoue (26-0-0) on May 6, Nery aims to snatch the super-bantamweight crown. Inoue – Nery headlines Tokyo Dome’s first boxing event since Tyson’s upset loss in 1990. Nery, targets Inoue’s undisputed reign, confident in his power and adaptability. He asserts Inoue risks more by facing him and predicts a knockout victory, echoing Tyson’s fall in the same venue.

“This is an important fight. It deserves to be in an arena that is just as important like the Tokyo Dome. And I think it’s a sign. If Mike Tyson can lose his unbeaten record there, then so can Naoya Inoue. Now, Mike Tyson was actually a monster. He for sure was an assassin. So, I’m happy that they made the fight at Tokyo Dome. I will win by knockout. There’s no other way. I know that either he or I will be stopped. But I’m sure that he will be stopped”, Nery said.
