Uzbekistan’s Farzona Fozilova eliminated her main rival in Astana

Uzbekistan’s Farzona Fozilova eliminated one of her main rivals already in the quarter-finals of the ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan during the evening session of Day6.

Afghanistan, Bhutan, China, Timor Leste, Chinese Taipei, India, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Nepal, Palestine, Philippines, Qatar, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan and Vietnam are the participating 25 countries in Astana.

Altogether 130 female and 267 male boxers from all regions of Asia will compete for the 50 gold medals in the championship.

India’s Dhruv Singh had longer reach than Turkmenistan’s Arslan Nurchiyev and he used his footwork also to gain the control of their light heavyweight (80kg) bout. The Turkmen southpaw opened the second round with a heavy jab and he had the stamina in the third but his skills were not enough to win this contest.

Beknur Batyrbek was born in 2003 and he competed in several events in the previous three years but he is the most inexperienced in the U22 national team. The Kazakh heavyweight (92kg) boxer was slightly better than Kyrgyzstan’s southpaw Bakyt Toktosun Uulu and he also managed to win his quarter-final bout.

Nepal’s Susma Tamang was a historic silver medallist in the 2023 ASBC Asian U22 Boxing Championships and she competed also at the Asian Games in Hangzhou. Nepal’s new sensation moved ahead from the first seconds against Mongolia’s Sodon-Od Binderiya but her opponent handled all of the tactical jobs today.

Uzbekistan’s ASBC Asian U22 Champion Farzona Fozilova controlled the first round against Thailand’s Lalita Chainarong in the quarter-finals of the women’s minimumweight (48kg). She had a few difficulties against the former Asian Junior bronze medallist but she stepped into the gas in time once again to beat her Thai opponent.
