David De Pina and Carlos Ramirez knocked out their rivals in the evening session in Bangkok

Following the afternoon program, the fourth session delivered two knockouts at the 2^nd World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event in Bangkok.

Ghana’s Theophilous Allotey won two contests in Busto Arsizio and he claimed a bronze medal at the All Africa Games in the same month. Allotey was not the favourite against Hungary’s European silver medallist Attila Bernath but due to his final round, he eliminated his top flyweight (51kg) opponent in Bangkok.

Cape Verde’s David De Pina shocked Spain’s Martin Molina in the 1^st World Olympic Qualifier and he caused another surprise in Bangkok. The flyweight (51kg) boxer had the advantage in all of the judges’ scorecards against Serbia’s Omer Ametovic after two rounds but he knocked out his rival in the third.

Armenia’s Baregham Harutyunyan moved up to the flyweight (51kg) in the recent weeks but his strength was decisive against Tunisia’s African Olympic Qualifier silver medallist Alaeddine Zidi. Guatemala’s Carlos Ramirez also won his opener quickly, he knocked out Niger’s Moussa Sahabi Gado after one minute of fight.

France’s Yojerlin Cesar is a 20-year-old talent at the light heavyweight (80kg) and he proved his strength in Bangkok today. The French had the advantage against New Zealand’s Taj Kagho in the first round and the youngster was able to keep the same level until the last gong .

Poland’s Jakub Straszewski, the Youth World silver medallist, moved down to the light heavyweight (80kg) in the previous weeks and his decision paid off in the second competition day in Bangkok. The 21-year-old Polish won all of the three rounds against Afghanistan’s historic Asian U22 runner-up, Qais Alizada and he joined the last 32.

Belgium’s Noa Hadjit eliminated Barbados’ 11-years-older Charles Cox in the busy light heavyweight (80kg) and he secured his place in the Round of 32. Another strong European, Romania’s Paul Aradoaie felt the fighting range well enough against Israel’s Daniel Ilyushonok and he remained his Olympic dreams alive.
