The semi-final line-ups are confirmed in Sarajevo
The medals are revealed in the fifth competition days at the EUBC European Junior Boxing Championships in Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina.
The number of the women’s boxers is 130 and joining them, 240 boys are also competing at the European Junior Boxing Championships in Sarajevo.
Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, England, Estonia, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Scotland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Turkey will be the participating nations in Sarajevo.
England’s Joseph Dowson bowed out his second opponent out of his way in Sarajevo where he had a great game play against Italy’s Tommaso Orlando at the pinweight (46kg). The English marched into the last four and he will now meet Serbia’s Pavle Popovic who defeated Israel’s Aslan Jakhid.
Hungary’s Dominik Gombai found the best fighting distance quickly against Greece’s Achilleas Tsepidis and he had the stamina to beat his opponent joining the semi-finals at the bantamweight (54kg).
The Bulgarians are in strong shape, their Yanko Iliev controlled all of the three rounds against Slovakia’s Kristian Harasnik but Antonio Damyanov also had the strength to beat Moldova’s Roman Spak at the flyweight (50kg).
Israel’s Artur Prohnevsky performed well in the preparation tournaments before the European Junior Championships and those experiences paid off against Moldova’s Nichita Negruta in their quarter-finals.
Armenia’s Martin Sahakyan had a hard mission against Azerbaijan’s Vusal Khalilov at the lightweight (60kg) but he succeeded with a great finish. His teammate, Artyom Stepanyan made the best performance in the quarter-finals, he knocked out Croatia’s Mateo Bobas at the welterweight (66kg).
Albania earned medals in some of the previous championships and their Riduan Gashi repeated that performance with his success against Montenegro’s Matija Roganovic at the welterweight (66kg).
