Pena defeats Hanabusa, wins WBO Inter-Continental title

Angelo Pena (10-0, 6 KOs) is the new WBO Inter-Continental champion in super-featherweight division. Pena on Saturday night (September 14) in Bern defeated tough Japanese Hiroki Hanabusa (13-3-5) via unanimous decision. After 10 spectacular rounds, judges saw Pena clear as winner (99:91, 98:92 and 100:90).

With the title Pena will get in Top 15 of WBO rankings.

“I’m very happy that I brought WBO Inter-Continental title in Bern. This victory is a very important step in my road to WBO World title”, Pena said.

Promoter Leander Strupler announced that he will continue working with WBO, to archive the dream of a WBO World title fight for his fighter.

In co-main event Christopher Mouafo (10-1, 6 KOs) won WBO Global title in lightweight division. Mouafo defeated Jonniel Laurente (10-2-1) of Philippines via unanimous decision (97:93, 99:91 and 98:92).

Ramadan Hiseni (19-2-2) lost for the second time in his professional boxing career. Hiseni couldn’t find solution for Eugeniusz Makarczuk (11-0). In the end judges saw the Belarusian living in Poland, Makarczuk as winner (96:94, 100:90 and 96:94).

Georgi Svechev (4:0) stopped Alexandru Crasnitchii (5-8-1) in third round and Simon Vollmer (6-0) got a unanimous decision win over Tzemal Huseinoglou (4-8-2).

Next event promoter Leander Strupler will organize on December 26.
