Paris Olympians will compete at the Enrique Rodriguez Cal Memorial Tournament in Mostoles next week

The 2nd edition of the Enrique Rodriguez Cal Memorial Tournament will be hosting by the Royal Spanish Boxing Federation in the suburb of Madrid next week and the registrations are closed for the event.  

Spain’s next international competition, the Enrique Rodriguez Cal Memorial Tournament was launched only in 2023 and it will take place in a new venue in Mostoles, Madrid on September 23-29.

England, France, Hungary, IBA neutral, Iceland, Montenegro, Scotland, Spain, and Wales are planning to send their best teams to the 2nd Enrique Rodriguez Cal Memorial Tournament, shortly known as Dacal.

Spain’s Paris Olympians such as Rafael Lozano Serrano (51kg) and Oier Ibarreche (63.5kg) will be competing at the Enrique Rodriguez Cal Memorial including with many of their powerful teammates.

Among the women boxers, the multiple European Champion Bojana Gojkovic qualified for the Paris Olympics and the 21-year-old boxer is aiming her next gold medal in the upcoming European U22 Boxing Championships.

Wales’ Zoe Andrews, France’s Sthelyne Grosy and Kaelya Mopin, England’s Lauren Mackie and Sacha Hickey, Hungary’s Petra Mezei, Reka Hoffmann and the local Spanish boxers will strengthen the female competition.

France’s Yojerlin Cesar, England’s Isaac Okoh and Damar Thomas, Scotland’s Aaron Cullen and Sonny Kerr, Montenegro’s Petar Lijesevic and Hungary’s Soma Mester are all young but top boxers in Europe.

The competition was named by Spain’s first Olympic medallist, Enrique Rodriguez Cal who claimed bronze medal at the 1972 Munich Olympics and in the 1st World Boxing Championships.
