The EUBC European U23 Boxing Championships will open with 41 bouts tomorrow
The EUBC European U23 Boxing Championships opened with its Technical Meeting and Official draw in Sofia, Bulgaria. The first competition day contains 41 bouts in two sessions and the event is being held in two rings.
Sofia hosted several big championships in the recent more than 12 years including the Youth World Boxing Championships, the Strandja Memorial Tournament and European Boxing Championships for various age groups.
Boxers from the 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005 age groups are eligible to participate in the EUBC European U23 Boxing Championships in Sofia.
The first competition day is scheduled on October 12 while the finals will be held on October 19-20 after the rest day.
Altogether 41 preliminary bouts will be held in the first competition day at the EUBC European U23 Boxing Championships in Sofia tomorrow.
Bulgaria’s superstar, the multiple European Champion and the Paris Olympian Radoslav Rosenov will be opening his campaign in the first competition day, the lightweight (60kg) boxer will meet Hungary’s Kruzito Kovacs in Sofia.
One of the most exciting contests in the first session will be held between Wales’ Commonwealth Games bronze medallist 21-year-old Owain Harris-Allan and Spain’s Victor Manuel Catalino at the lightweight (60kg).
France’s best male boxer, the reigning European U22 Champion Yojerlin Cesar also will be making his debut in the first competition day in Sofia where he is a favourite against Scotland’s Josh Mullen at the light heavyweight (80kg).
Among them top female hopefuls at the bantamweight (54kg), England’s European Youth Champion Lauren Mackie, France’s Cyndelle Bachelet and Wales’ Zoe Andrews are all will be in action in the first day of boxing.
The event will be live streamed through the European Boxing Confederation’s YouTube channel and the boxing fans are able to watch all of the bouts.
