The European U23 Boxing Championships saw successful debuts from the Paris Olympians

The EUBC European U23 Boxing Championships had busy sessions in Sofia, Bulgaria and the stars of the event joined the quarter-finals on Day2.

Boxers from the 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005 age groups are eligible to participate in the EUBC European U23 Boxing Championships.

France’s Mayssoun Bourega trains in the Bron Boxing Academy and the 19-year-old talent is new in their national team. The French teenager had excellent footwork in her opener against Spain’s Laura Barcelo and all of the judges favoured her on the scorecards.

Serbia’s Dragana Jovanovic is one of their previous top youth boxers who joined the elite and the U23 age groups this January. The Serbian had a tough start against France’s Kaelya Mopin and she eliminated one of the favourites with nice technical style of boxing.

Montenegro’s Paris Olympian Bojana Gojkovic is one of the top names in the entire championships in Sofia, and she worked hard to beat England’s experienced Olivia Holmes at the women’s featherweight (57kg).

The Georgians started to develop women’s boxing only in the previous years but their Khuraman Kasumova impressed with her actions in the first round of the featherweight (57kg) and she eliminated Ukraine’s Anhelina Lakhno.

Albania’s Ariol Zeneli, the former European Youth medallist, moved up to the featherweight (57kg) and he dominated his opener against Greece’s Vasileios Stratakos but Armenia’s Ruslan Aslikyan, France’s Ryan Bieou and Turkey’s Mehmethan Cinar also joined the last eight.

Bulgaria’s Radoslav Rosenov eliminated a Hungarian opponent in the first competition day and he continued his winning path on Day2. The Paris Olympian had a more difficult opponent, Wales’ Owain Harris-Allan but he managed to win that tactical contest.

Scotland’s lightweight (60kg) talent, Isa Akram is 20-year-old and she is one of the most developed boxers in their national team. The Scottish boxer had the great finish against Latvia’s No.1, Matvejs Prokudins and he joined the next stage of boxing.
