Nakatani stops Salapat, Tanaka losses by split decision
Japan’s star Junto Nakatani (29-0, 22 KOs) defended in impressive fashion his WBC World bantamweight title.
On Monday night in “Ariake Arena”, Nakatani stopped Tasana Salapat (76-2) of Thailand in round six.
For Nakatani was third fight in bantamweight division. He won world titles in flyweight and super-flyweight.
While Nakatani continued to impressive, his countryman Kosei Tanaka (20-22) lost his WBO World super-flyweight title. Tanaka lost by split decision from South-Africas, Phumelele Cafu (11-0-3).
Two judges saw Cafu in front (114:113) and saw Tanaka as winner (114-113).
The other title fight between Anthony Olascuaga (7-1) and Jonathan Gonzalez (28-3-1) for WBO World flyweight title ended in a no contest in first round, because Gonzalez got injured from accidental headbutt.
The star kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa (5-0) won also his fifth fight in professional boxing. He won via unanimous decision from Gerwin Asilo (9-1) in the fight for WBO Asia Pacific bantamweight title.
