Gafurov, Klepo, Tudoroiu and Espinosa are all joined the last 16

Ruslan Gafurov, Filip Klepo, Arun Nicu Tudoroiu and David Espinosa all marched to the last 16 at the IBA Youth World Boxing Championships in Budva on Session8.

Cuba’s Yoelvis Leyan Tejera had a very difficult contest at the light welterweight (63.5kg) against Georgia’s Levan Demurovi but he found the best weapons in time to eliminate a top rival.

Poland’s Wadim Konszewicz eliminated his first rival on Day1 and the southpaw tried to keep the safest distance against Hungary’s Andras Mailat in the next contest. The Polish light welterweight (63.5kg) boxer overcame the Hungarian in the attacks and his counter-punches guaranteed his triumph at the Round of 32.

Tajikistan’s Ruslan Gafurov achieved several Asian medals during his career but he could expect a hard battle against Kazakhstan’s Akhmet Ussen. The 18-year-old Tajik No.1 defeated his opponent by 4:1 split decision in Astana a few months ago and he repeated that performance against Ussen in Budva as well.

Armenia’s strong Argishti Hakobyan is a Junior World Champion and he joined the youth national team this year. The Armenian was the favourite against Romania’s Arun Nicu Tudoroiu but he did not find the best range in their welterweight (67kg) contest today. The referee counted the Armenian once who lost the control of this fight and Tudoroiu bowed out of his way a top name.

Moldova’s European Youth silver medallist Daniil Guranda was patient in the exchanges and his punctual shots dominated his contest against North Macedonia’s Luka Trifunovik. Mexico’s Juan Diego Flores won the next welterweight (67kg) bout with technical superiority against Turkey’s Huseyin Babat.

Cuba’s David Espinosa and Russia’s Bilal Dakayev met already in the Round of 32 at the welterweight (67kg) and the first won their tactical bout. Montenegro’s last hope, Filip Klepo demonstrated his power against Seychelles’ Wess Kenny Jean Charles and he is now in the last 16 at the light heavyweight (80kg).
