The Round of 16 at the middleweight delivered exciting battles in Budva
The stars of the middleweight (75kg) amazed at the IBA Youth World Boxing Championships in Budva and joined the quarter-finals.
Greece’s Anna-Maria Trifylli, the European Youth Champion, had a nice success in the Round of 32 and after that difficult contest she met a very speedy opponent, Poland’s Natalia Niewiadomska. The Greek minimumweight (48kg) boxer had to do her very best in this contest to join the quarter-finals in Budva.
Ecuador’s Leydi Ariana Lanza made a small surprise in the Round of 16 at the women’s minimumweight (48kg) in Budva where she eliminated Spain’s tall Claudia Alcaniz. France’s European Youth silver medallist Mathilda Fragnieres won the next battle in this weight class, she was too smart for Azerbaijan’s Lala Madatova.
Spain’s Ismael Maghraoui eliminated a top boxer in the Round of 32 at the men’s minimumweight (48kg) and he was expecting a hard battle against Turkmenistan’s Asian Junior silver medallist Sanjar Hamrayev. The Spaniard used his longer hands against the 17-year-old Turkmen and he eliminated the second Central Asian opponents in Budva.
Azerbaijan’s Bilalkhabasi Nazarov had strong achievements in the previous two years and he had the technical skills to beat Ecuador’s Crisler Bonilla at the minimumweight (48kg). Kazakhstan’s Dias Berikbay, China’s Hu Junhao and Morocco’s Othman Chadghour all secured their places in the quarter-finals.
Poland’s Junior World Champion Fabian Urbanski stopped his first opponent in a quick contest and he used a different strategy against Belarus’ Andrei Matskevich. The 17-year-old Polish advanced to the quarter-finals and he will now meet Israel’s Ahmad Jabarin who had a huge surprise success over Hungary’s Krisztian Nileborg.
The favourites of the middleweight (75kg) such as Uzbekistan’s Djafarbek Shakhbazov, Georgia’s Giorgi Natroshvili, Cuba’s Yurisniel Abreu and Kazakhstan’s Sanzhar-Ali Begaliyev all won their contests in the thirteenth session.
