Peake, Fotiadis and Dzhumayev on the peak of the session

Carlagh Peake’s peak performance, Greece’s Emmanouil Fotiadis’ stamina and Amantur Dzhumayev’s strength delighted the actions of the fourteenth sessions at the IBA Youth World Boxing Championships in Budva.

Serbia’s Sanja Mitic started well against Greece’s Maria Georgopoulou in the first round using her speed to catch the opponent. The Greek turned up the heat in the second and she came back to the match with her strength and Georgopoulou had the stamina in the third to win this exciting contest from disadvantage.

IBA neutral’s Carlagh Peake made one of the top sensations of the session when she eliminated Russia’s Viktoria Krainova at the women’s light flyweight (50kg). Tunisia’s Hidaya Tlili was too strong for Morocco’s Farah Abdeljaoud and she will now meet for the medal Peake in an anticipated peak bout.

Azerbaijan’s Omar Aslanli eliminated a Cuban opponent in the previous round at the men’s bantamweight (54kg) and he expected another final level bout against Kazakhstan’s Bauyrzhan Muratov. The Azeri No.1 was punctual in this outstanding contest and he won all of the three tight rounds in their meeting.

Kyrgyzstan’s World Junior Champion Amantur Dzhumayev is only 17-year-old but he is the No.1 in the youth national team. The Kyrgyz spent a short time in the ring against Colombia’s Isaac Rincon and he secured his spot in the quarter-finals of the bantamweight (54kg).

Hungary’s Kevin Kozak lost to Bulgaria’s Atanas Dinkov in the European Youth Championships but the 18-year-old boxer made a revenge in Budva. France’s Mohamed Djemmal won another important bantamweight (54kg) bout, he triumphed over Moldova’s Ion Peni in the Round of 16.

Armenia’s Rafayel Nersesyan (63.5kg) knew his Moldovan opponent, Artiom Tolstoi well from previous events and he used the best strategy to beat him in the Round of 16. Greece’s Emmanouil Fotiadis eliminated Cuba’s Yoelvis Tejera in an emotional contest but Romania’s Daniel Grigorie and Poland’s Wadim Konszewicz are also quarter-finalists.
