More than 600 boxers competed in the record-breaking King of the Ring Tournament
The King of the Ring set up new record with the participation of more than 600 boxers from 25 nations in Boras, Sweden.
The competition was held in five rings and made the event the biggest in 2024 which was the result of the hard work of the organizer, Mr. Ray Husac.
There were 122 bouts only in the third and final competition day in the brilliant King of the Ring Tournament.
Netherlands’ Mahmoud Al Chabtoun from the Knockout Boxing Club is the new King of the Ring and he achieved his belt. His bout against England’s James Reid was the Fight of the Event and Al Chabtoun was still fresh to beat Sweden’s Erduan Berisha in the final.
Sweden’s Paris Olympian Nebil Ibrahim became the Most Technician Boxer in the King of the Ring Tournament where Leo Husac of Sweden named as the prospect of the year.
England’s Daniel Stoican was named as the best elite boxer, England’s Thomas Cottrell awarded the best youth trophy. Scotland’s Aaron Sarwar was the best junior while England’s Clayton Dury the best schoolboy in the King of the Ring Tournament.
Stoican defeated Norway’s No.1, Martin Skogheim by 3:2 split decision in the final of the light middleweight (71kg). Netherlands’ Daniel Minten (80kg), Sweden’s super talented 19-year-old Elwin Belezika (92kg) and Norway’s Tobias Yrvin (+92kg) all won their finals.
Norway’s Edin Fetah (67kg) and another boxer from the Nordic country, Sviatoslav Mykyteiek (86kg) also impressed in the youth competition.
France’s Team Paris was the best squad in the competition where England’s Daniel Stedford and Scotland’s James Martin announced as the best referees and judges.
The next edition of the strong King of the Ring Tournament will be held in between October 31 and November 2 in 2025.
Before that, their female event, the prestigious Golden Girl will be held between January 31 and February 2 in 2025 in Boras, Sweden, which is one of the top competition in women’s boxing and several of the boxers have already registered to the upcoming challenges.
