Mijangos’ KO delighted the third day in Foz da Iguacu

Guatemala’s Jose Daniel Felipe Mijangos delivered his second quick success at the World Boxing Cup Brazil in Foz do Iguacu where he knocked out an Italian talent.

Poland’s Julia Szeremeta achieved a surprise silver medal at the Paris Olympics and after a half year of break, she returned to the world of boxing with a gold at the Bocskai Memorial. The 22-year-old Polish kept the focus from the first seconds until the last and she eliminated the US talent, Alyssa Mendoza.

Poland’s next strong girl from their 2003 age group, Natalia Kuczewska defeated Argentina’s Aldana Lopez in the busy women’s 51kg where Kazakhstan’s Zhazira Urakbayeva, Italy’s Lucia Ayari and the US Jennifer Lozano are the further semi-finalists.

Brazil’s Jucielen Romeu is one of the top female boxers at the 57kg in the whole world but she needed to do her very best on Day3. The Brazilian was slightly better than Chinese Taipei’s Olympic bronze medallist Wu Shih Yi and she delighted the local crowd.

Guatemala’s Jose Daniel Felipe Mijangos had a quick RSC triumph over Germany’s Omar Salah Ibrahim and the 22-year-old Central American continued his winning path. Mijangos not only shocked Italy’s Tommaso Sciacca but he knocked out his European opponent at the men’s 55kg quarter-final.

Kazakhstan’s Nursultan Altynbek eliminated France’s Bilal Benali but India’s Manish Rathore and Uzbekistan’s Asian Games winner Mirazizbek Mirzakhalilov are also semi-finalists at the 55kg.

England’s Odel Kamara delivered the main sensation of the third competition day when he eliminated Uzbekistan’s World silver medallist Ikboljon Kholdarov at the 70kg where he will now meet a strong US boy, Carlos Flowers. His teammate, Dimeji Shittu was defeated by France’s No.1, Yojerlin Cesar in an excellent 80kg quarter-final.
