Mr. Krasimir Ininski – The Strandja Tournament proved the level of a small World Championship
The President of the Bulgarian Boxing Federation, Mr. Krasimir Ininski underlined the high quality of boxing and the strong level of the recent 77th Strandja Trophy Tournament which has just finished in Sofia.
Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Bulgaria, England, United States of America and Kosovo shared the gold medals at the 77th Strandja Tournament in Sofia.
“The organization of a tournament like the Strandja Trophy, with such scale and a level comparable to a World Championship, begins on the very day the previous edition ends.
I believe this is why we manage to maintain such a high standard each time. No one on our team takes a break; we are always looking to build on what we have achieved.
First and foremost, it is a tremendous honor and privilege to host the event after 77 years of tradition. Over the years, the Strandja Trophy has established itself as the strongest tournament after the World Championship. That brings enormous expectations toward us as organizers, and with that comes great responsibility.
At the same time, it is a true pleasure. We have the opportunity to see world-class boxers compete in Bulgaria — Olympic and world champions and medalists. What could be better than watching them showcase their abilities in front of a home crowd?
As for heroes over the years — every athlete who has left their heart in the ring belongs in that category. Bulgaria has many glorious names who have brought victories and made the entire country proud.
I believe Mr. Boris van der Vorst’s opinion is more than sufficient. He described it as a “small world championship.” There is really nothing more to add.
All members of the Bulgarian national team are my favourite boxers. They are like my children — part of my family. We are one unit: management, coaches, and boxers.
There were many bouts that were unpredictable, with unexpected outcomes. That is the beauty of our sport. That is why the arena fills up and why the atmosphere was incredible,” said Mr. Krasimir Ininski.
