The 70th Bocskai Memorial Tournament starts with its preliminaries today
The 70th Bocskai Memorial Tournament will start with 54 female and male bouts in Debrecen today and many of these preliminaries are anticipated among top boxers.
Following the Strandja Trophy Tournament, Hungary’s international competition, the Bocskai Memorial Tournament will be one of the highlights of the week. This will be the 70th edition of the Bocskai Memorial and it will take place in the city of Debrecen, East Hungary.
The first competition day of the next edition of the Bocskai Memorial is March 17 while the finals will feature on March 21.
France’s Olympian Wassila Lkhadiri, Spain’s World Championships bronze medallist Laura Fuertes, England’s U19 World Champion Alice Pumphrey and France’s European U22 Champion Romane Moulai all will start their campaigns on Day1.
Moldova’s European silver medallist Alexandru Paraschiv will meet Hungary’s European quarter-finalist Rafael Buza in the first preliminary round which could be one of the top contests of the opening session.
Australia decided to send a team to the Bocskai Memorial, their squad returns to the event after 12 years of break.
England, Scotland and Wales have been preparing to the Commonwealth Games and the Bocskai Memorial Tournament will be their next stoppage on that road.
Host Hungary, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Moldova, France, Finland, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Serbia, Spain, Lithuania, Croatia, Czechia, Austria, and Romania are competing with top boxers in the city of Debrecen.
The President of the Hungarian Boxing Association, Mr. Istvan Kovacs and his team worked hard to arrange another strong edition from this prestigious event.
The new edition of the Bocskai Memorial Tournament will be preparation event for the European Elite Boxing Championships and the European U23 Boxing Championships.
