Australia and France had great successes at the Bocskai Memorial but Azerbaijan’s Nijat Alirzayev caused the sensation of the day

France and Australia had strong successes at the 70th edition of the Bocskai Memorial Tournament in Debrecen on Day2 when Azerbaijan’s Nijat Alirzayev caused the main surprise.

The French girls was unstoppable at the 51kg today, their Romane Moulai eliminated Spain’s World bronze medallist Laura Fuertes, while Wassila Lkhadiri had also a successful battle against England’s U19 World Champion, Alice Pumphrey.

France’s European U19 Champion Maloe Teresi is only 18-year-old but she had the top performance against Scotland’s Stephanie Kernachan, while Azerbaijan’s Zeynab Rahimova won her second bout in Debrecen at the 54kg today.

Scotland’s Niamh Mitchell was better in all aspects of boxing than Finland’s Krista Kovalainen at the 60kg which saw also the success of a returning Hungarian, Viktoria Matesz.

Australia’s Eve Bryson surprised Spain’s Mariana Soto in the first round and she shared her power well enough in the entire contest. The Aussie girl switched into a higher tempo in the third round and she eliminated a top Spaniard at the women’s 65kg.

England’s Abdul-Rahman Burton knew well enough her Scottish rival, Aaron Cullen, but he had to do his very best to beat his opponent.

Kelvin Soquessa had disadvantage on the judges’ scorecards against Scotland’s Taylor McMahon after one round but the Czech boxer stepped into the gas in the second, and with a phenomenal third, he turned back this 70kg bout.

The European Games bronze medallist and Paris Olympian Makan Traore of France had a difficult but successful contest against Netherlands’ Finn Bos at the 70kg. Australia’s duo as Gene Keremete (65kg) and Oliver Wilson (70kg) both succeeded in their contests.

Azerbaijan’s Nijat Alirzayev was only a bronze medallist in their recent Nationals but he could eliminate Moldova’s No.1, the European runner-up Alexandru Paraschiv with exceptional second and third rounds.
